Instructions
- Boil water using a stove, microwave, or kettle.
- Pour boiling water into a bowl and stir in the powder (1 part powder to 2-3 parts water).
- Let it cool or immediately pour into a mold. The gel will set at room temperature.
- Cut into pieces or shape into slow-release jerky. Once prepared, treat the gel as fresh food.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or freeze for up to six months.
Tips and Techniques
Jerky Preparation: Prepare the gel as above, pour it into a deep container, then cut the gel into ¼ inch thick slices of desired size. Completely dry in an oven or dehydrator at 150 °F (65 °C) for 8-12 hours. Offering ad libitum can extend the freshness.
Refrigeration is recommended to maintain freshness.
